CoinCorner Ltd (Isle of Man)
CoinCorner Ltd is the company you deal with if you live in the UK, the Isle of Man or one of the other markets it serves. It is an Isle of Man company, number 129003C. The company overview and leadership page describes the business itself.
Isle of Man Financial Services Authority: designated business registration
CoinCorner Ltd is registered with the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (register entry) as a designated business under the Designated Businesses (Registration and Oversight) Act 2015. The register shows two categories, Lender and Virtual Asset Service Provider, and a registration date of 4 May 2016. No registration number is shown on the register entry.
The register also records two conditions: the company must at all times maintain at least two Isle of Man resident directors, and management and control of the virtual asset business must be in the Island.
This is a registration, not a licence. In the regulator's words, “Designated businesses are registered and overseen by the Authority for AML/CFT compliance only”, and the Act “does not make persons affected by its provisions licence holders of the Authority” (Isle of Man FSA, designated business overview).
Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading: moneylender registration
CoinCorner's footer states that the company is registered with the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading as a moneylender under the Moneylenders Act 1991. It shows no registration number and no link to a register.

Mercury Foreign Exchange Limited (e-money issuer)
Pound and euro balances in a CoinCorner account are electronic money. The issuer is Mercury Foreign Exchange Limited, which is not a CoinCorner company. It is authorised by the FCA under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (FRN 900858) for the issuing of electronic money and the provision of payment services, and CoinCorner Ltd acts as its distributor under regulation 33 of those regulations.
The authorisation covers the e-money accounts and the payment services behind them. It is not an authorisation of CoinCorner Ltd, and it does not cover Bitcoin.
E-money funds are held in segregated accounts and safeguarded under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011. E-money is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. The security page explains how customer assets are held.

United Kingdom: status and the risk warning
CoinCorner's site claims no FCA cryptoasset registration and no FCA authorisation. Promotions of cryptoassets to UK consumers still have to reach them by a lawful route and carry the warning the FCA prescribes:
“Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you should not expect to be protected if something goes wrong.”
The FCA says a cryptoasset firm that is neither authorised nor registered in the UK, including an overseas firm, can have its promotions approved by an authorised firm, known as a section 21 approver. Firms have been able to apply for authorisation under the new UK cryptoasset regime since 30 September 2026, and the FCA expects that regime to come into force on 25 October 2027.
The risk disclosure explains the warning, and the guide to Bitcoin regulation in the UK and Isle of Man explains the rules behind it.
